Data Deletion

Effective date: 4 August 2026
Version: 1.0

You can ask us to delete your Darko account and the personal data attached to it at any time — whether or not you still have the app installed. This page explains both ways to do that and what happens to your data afterwards. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which remains the authoritative description of what we collect, why, and for how long.

1. If you have the app#

Go to Settings → Privacy → Delete my account. This deactivates your account and signs you out immediately.

A 30-day grace period follows: contact us within it and we can restore the account. After 30 days, an automated process irreversibly anonymises your personal data, deletes your login, and removes your uploaded files, push notification tokens, and presence and message traces from our live-update systems. See Privacy Policy §10.2 for the full description.

Before you can deactivate, you must resolve two things only you can: transfer or cancel a group gift you administer, and transfer or delete a family member profile you solely administer.

2. If you don't have the app#

Email [email protected] from the email address on your Darko account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm receipt and answer within one month, and we carry out by hand the same deletion described in §1 — the same 30-day grace period, and everything it covers, applies identically.

We ask that the request come from your account's own email address so we can be reasonably sure it is really you asking. If you no longer have access to that address, say so in your message and we will ask for whatever else lets us confirm your identity before acting.

3. What gets deleted, and what we keep#

Summarised from Privacy Policy §9 and Privacy Policy §10.2; those sections are the authoritative version if the two ever disagree.
